Litmus ...

Browse D urch at Wikipedia I have become aware of litmus. Litmus has similar bromothymol the property of solutions according to their pH to stain different.

From blue / purple to purple → → to red and possibly blue again by
red to purple → → to / purple .

I was curious and ordered them a few ounces.
The test reagent I as usual with demineralized water, about 0.04 grams of sodium carbonate (3 ° dKH, pH 7.5) and a little litmus produced.

So the result looks like:

Blue = basic = too little CO ²

Purple = = slightly acidic enough CO ²

red = acid = too much CO ²

is something else!
I'll be watching the test reagent for the next few days and report here later.
